How To Configure Data Retention Period For GDPR Compliance In Visitly

Modified on Mon, 3 Mar at 5:39 PM

To comply with GDPR and other data privacy regulations, Visitly allows you to set a Retention Period for visitor records. This feature ensures that personal data is automatically deleted after a defined period, preventing unnecessary storage of sensitive visitor information.

Once data exceeds the retention period, it is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Set Up Data Retention & Auto-Delete

1.  Navigate to Locations and click Edit on the desired location.

2.  In the Retention Period field, specify how long you'd like to keep visitor records.

  • Leave blank or set to "0" to retain data indefinitely.

3.  Click Save.

Important GDPR Compliance Considerations

  • Under GDPR, organizations must not store personal data longer than necessary for its intended purpose.

  • Automatic deletion ensures compliance with data privacy laws by removing outdated visitor records.

  • Before setting a retention period, consult your organization’s data protection officer (DPO) to determine the appropriate duration.

⭐ Note:  All visit records older than the defined period will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Use this setting with caution
